First day of the stage I

The Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition has started on the 10th of September in Katowice. On the first day of musical struggles, the audience and jury listened to performances of the young artists in two instrumental disciplines: violin and piano.

Eight pianists and ten violinists took part on the first day of the first stage. Musicians were evaluated by the jury:

Piano: Andrzej Jasiński (chairman of the jury), Joanna Domańska, Olga Kern, Aviram Reichert, Martin Roscoe, Tamás Ungár. The trustee of jury is Piotr Banasik.

Violin: Bartłomiej Nizioł (chairman of the jury), Eszter Haffner, Laurent Korcia, Szymon Krzeszowiec, Alexander Trostiansky, Andreas Vierziger. The trustee of jury is Beata Warykiewicz-Siwy.

There is a possibility to listen to all performances thanks to the Polish Radio Programme II: there are transmitions, retransmisions, coverages and disscusions on the air.  Besides, all performances during the competition will be put on a special internet service:  Szymanowski-konkurs.polskieradio.pl.

Schedule for the second day of the first stage for mentioned categories is following:

piano: 10.00 am – 11.30 am,  11.45 am -12.45 pm, 2.15 pm -3.15 pm

violin: 9.30 am – 11.30 am, 11.45 am -1.15 pm, 2.30 pm  – 4.30 pm, 4.45 pm – 5.45 pm.

Results of the first stage for piano discipline will be announced on the 11th of September.
